How To Play

Starting the Game

i. Downloading the Client
Downloading the Misthalin Client is very simple and easy to do:
1. Go to the Misthalin website at "www.misthalin.net"
2. On the top of the website, there is a black bar. Click the word "Download"
3. Select the way you would like to play the game.

However, if you do not prefer to download the client, you could also go to the webclient at "http://misthalin.net/play/index.html"

ii. Main Menu
After the game is fully loaded, you will reach the main menu screen which looks like

To play, you need to fill in your desired username and password and then click Log In. you do not have to be register anywhere to create an account you play a game to be someone else, we don’t need your information when registering so why would you need to enter it!

 

This means you can use any name to log in on. Once you log in with an unused name your name will be permanently yours! You have now registered an account already, congratulations! You can now start playing the game. More information about creating a secure account is below.

 

As far as choosing a password goes, make sure it's random and does not include anything that can be linked to you (e.g. personal information, pets name, credit card number, etc.) And make sure you write your password down in case you ever forget it!

Example of a good password: 13t913aerg48ag (Random name with varieties of numbers)
Example of a bad password: chris18 (My name and my age)

You might also notice a small box on the bottom right with a globe. That is used to change worlds. Simply click it and you will log onto a different world. Your account is not locked to a certain world, you can play different worlds.
There are four worlds:
1: Normal USA [1500 players+]
2: Normal EUR [400+ Players
3: PvP [Dangerous] [500+ Players]
4: Members [200+ Players]
*World 3: The only places that are safe are the banks. Everywhere else is PvP*
*World 4: Requires a member account. A member account costs 5 AMPs*

iii. Starting your Character
When you first login, a screen will come up asking you to pick your mode. These modes grant extra abilities and can be seen by other players.

There are ffour modes; Sir, Lord, Legend, & Extreme
Extreme [10xp]: Faster Spec Restore, Unlimited prayer in Wilderness, Increase PvM Drop Rates, Ability to teleport from 40 wilderness, Sir Owen's Longsword
Legend [50xp]: Faster Spec Restore, Unlimited prayer in Wilderness, Increase PvM Drop Rates, Ability to teleport from 40 wilderness, Legend's Cape
Lord [500xp]: Ability to teleport from 35 wilderness
Sir [5000xp]:
*Extreme is the hardest to level and Sir is the easiest. People commonly use Legends/Extremes for PvP/PvM and Sir for materials from skilling.*

iv. Interface
The Misthalin interface is very similar to the real thing except for some minor adjustments. I will explain what each panel on the interface shows.


Chatbox
This is the chatbox, where you will see what you type along with what other people type.
The setting's below the chatbox can be changed to your liking.


Combat Tab
Here you can activate your spec, activate auto-retaliate, and change your attack style.
Auto-Retaliate makes your character automatically attack anything that attacks him.
Spec is a "special" move you can do with your weapon every once in awhile which does better damage than normal.

Skills Tab
Here you will be able to see your current level in each skill. Place your mouse over the skill picture and extra information will come up that will help you out.

Quest Tab
Here, you will be able to see some special information that does not really fit into any other tab along with quests.

Inventory Tab
This is your inventory which is where you will hold your items. There are a total of 28 spots to place items. If you run out of space, head to a bank and place "useless" items in it.

Armor Tab
You will be able to remove and use armor through this tab. To remove armor, simply the click the armor piece. On the bottom, you can see the Equipment Stats to help you compare items.

Prayer Tab
Here you can access your different prayers. Simply click the prayer to toggle it.

Spellbook Tab
Almost all of your major teleports are in this section. You do not need any runes for the teleporting spells. I will explain the Teleports in the next section

Clan Chat Tab
Through this tab, you will be able to join many different clan chats. Click "Join Clan Chat" and the name of the person whose chat you wish to join.
There are some CC's that are set up to help people such as:
Help: This chat is intended for random questions people might have and is constantly active
Market: This chat is intended to sell items, ask prices, and sell items.

Friends List Tab
You can add friends to this tab so you can know who is online/offline. If it is green, they are online. If it is red, they are offline. If you want to send them a message, simply click their name.

Ignore List Tab
This is where you can put the names of people who you find very annoying. You will no longer hear what they say.

LogOut Tab
Click the button that say "Click here to logout" if you would like to leave the game.

Settings Tab
Here you can change many different settings. You can change the brightness, sound, colors, etc.
If you click the bottom right square (which is blank) it will open additional settings which allow for FullScreen.

Emotes Tab
You can click an emote and your character will begin to act it out.

Summoning Tab
Here you will be able to access your pet commands and their special abilities. I will talk more about this in the summoning guide.

iv. Teleports
Teleporting around the server can get very confusing at times since it's spread out across the Spellbook, Games Necklace, Amulet of Glory, Ring of Dueling, Combat Bracelet. I will explain the teleports of each

Spellbook


Home Teleport
This will teleport you to your home, which is Falador at default. You can change your home by visiting Sir Taffy at Falador Park. He is sitting on the bench near the park exit.

City Teleport
This can teleport you to one of these locations:
Varrock
Lumbridge
Camelot
Edgeville
Falador

Lumbridge Teleport
This will teleport you to Lumbridge.

Wilderness Teleport
This can teleport you to one of these locations:
Varrock Wilderness [Safe]
Middle Wilderness [Level 9]
West Wilderness [Level 12]
East Wilderness [Level 10]
Bounty Hunter [Safe]

Camelot Teleport
This will teleport you to Camelot Castle where you can dice with other players. However, you cannot be the dicer unless you buy the rank for $30 or about 3-4b from other players.

Ardougne Teleport
This will teleport you to Ardougne where you can level your thieving with the stalls.

Skills Teleport
This can teleport you to one of these places where you can increase your skills:
Barbarian Course [Agility 1-70]
Gnome Agility Course [Agility 1-40]
Neitiznot South [All other Skills]
Neitiznot North [Mining, Woodcutting]
Catherby [Fishing, Farming]

Training Teleport
This can teleport you to one of these places to increase your combat skills:
Rock Crabs
Experiments
Slayer Tower
Bandits
Lumbridge Yaks

Ape Atoll Teleport
This can teleport you to Ape Atoll which is also another training place.
